Traceability

At Origin Amazonia, we are committed to full transparency in all our cacao lots through a cutting-edge, proprietary traceability system.

Every step of the post-harvest process—from fermentation to final loading—is meticulously recorded and verified using blockchain technology. This ensures authenticity, quality, and reliability at every stage.  As an added benefit, producers who fully document their lots receive a cash premium per kilo, which is added to the negotiated lot price.

How It Works

Producers download and install our Traceability App.

1. Easy Access

2. Training & Support

We provide training to ensure smooth adoption and usage.

3. Offline Functionality

The App works without an internet connection, storing data securely offline.

4. Step-by-Step Photo Documentation

Producers document six key post-harvest stages, from the first day of fermentation to the final loading onto a truck or shipping container.

5. Seamless Synchronization

Once an internet connection is available, the data is uploaded and secured.

6. Blockchain Verification

Every recorded image receives a unique blockchain hash, verifying its date, time, and location.

What is Blockchain Technology and Why is it Relevant?

Blockchain is a system that records transactions of certain types of information—digital assets—by its users through the internet. It functions like a ledger that can be accessed by all participants in the network. The term "blockchain" can be translated into Portuguese as “cadeia de blocos.” Each transaction is recorded as a “block” of data, capable of containing any necessary information. This block is securely linked to a chain of other blocks through encryption and is assigned a permanent record on the network, represented by a code made up of letters and numbers.

This vast database is decentralized, meaning it is not controlled by any single entity. The security and credibility of blockchain technology come from the fact that its information is stored across multiple interconnected servers distributed worldwide. These servers validate and approve transactions quickly and autonomously through consensus mechanisms. These records are immutable, meaning that no network participant can alter or tamper with a transaction once it has been added to the shared ledger.

With our traceability system, we guarantee the highest standards of quality, sustainability, and fair compensation, reinforcing our commitment to ethical and transparent cacao sourcing.
